About Our School

Yeshivat Yavneh – Samuel A. Fryer Yavneh Hebrew Academy was founded in 1958.  The school has grown from a handful of students meeting in Congregation Shaarei Tefila to its over 460 students in a magnificent state-of-the-art campus on four park-like acres in Hancock Park.

The Founding Dean, Rabbi William Spiegelman oversaw the absorption of the Los Angeles Hebrew Academy of Boyle Heights.  With this merger, Yavneh gained Rabbi Osher Zilberstein, Ztz”l, as Co-Dean and its identification as a community school.

Yeshivat Yavneh represents excellence in Judaic studies, excellence in secular studies and love of Medinat Israel.  Its educational philosophy is one of “Torah U’Madah.”

Yeshivat Yavneh continues to blossom under the guidance and leadership of an outstanding administrative team, Rabbi Moshe Dear, Headmaster,  Lev Stark, Executive Director, Malka Katz, Early Childhood Director, and Rabbi Moshe Amster, Administrator.

Yeshivat Yavneh has provided a rich Torah Education to generations of young men and women.  Fortified with the love of Torah and a peerless secular education, Yavneh graduates have gone on to become leaders within the Los Angeles community and throughout the world.
